Until Dawn Wiki
Status Update

Changes in a character's traits or relationships are indicated by a Status Update in the upper left corner.

Traits and Relationships are a gameplay element in Until Dawn. Throughout the game, the player will make choices that impact the characters' personality traits and relationships with other characters. The latter can shape how the game's narrative unfolds and influence the characters' interactions and decisions. Upon making choices, the traits and relationships will be updated through Status Updates in the menu's status screen of the character the player is controlling.

Traits[]

There are six traits:

  • Honest
  • Charitable
  • Funny
  • Brave
  • Romantic
  • Curious

Each character will start off with base parameters of their traits relating to that character’s personality, but the traits are dynamic and change based on the in-game choices. For instance, if a character chooses to help someone in need, their charitable trait will increase. The traits, however, do not impact future choices or outcomes and are only for player insight.

Relationships[]

Relationship statuses represent the bonds between characters in the game. Every decision the player makes has the potential to improve or harm a character's relationship with others. Relationships can influence dialogue, character trust, and future decisions that impact survival. The status screen of the character displays the names and their relationship with the other 7 (in Beth's case, 9) characters.

This page shows the varying ways traits and relationships will update depending on the choices made. Because of bugs and inconsistencies with the original game's status system,[1] this page focuses on the remake.
