The Ouija Board, also known as the Spirit Board, is an object in Until Dawn. It made its debut in Chapter 3 and was mentioned in Chapter 2.

Overview

Chapter 2

Josh tells Ashley and Chris to go find the board so they could mess around with it as Josh and Sam go into the basement.

The board is first shown inside its box when Chris reveals that he's found it, pulling it out from the monk robe he used to scare Sam and Josh.

Chapter 3

Ashley, Josh, and Chris settle down in the lodge's upper library to fool around with the board and hold a séance. To their amazement, the pointer starts moving around and tells the trio that the speaker is, depending on the player's choice, is either Hannah or Beth.

After the pointer spells out "library," it flies off the table and drops to the ground. Josh then leaves angrily, claiming it was a prank pulled by Chris and Ashley. Afterwards, Chris and Ashley abandon the spirit board and go down to the library to search for what the spirit board told them to find.

Chris mentions the board while talking to Ashley, after he finds a picture of the twins and a threatening letter in a hidden room.

Trivia

• Josh controlled the pointer as part of his prank.
  • Josh also set up the séance so that he could eventually storm off, change into the Psycho, and put his plan into motion.
• According to Josh in Chapter 2, he used to play with the spirit board with Hannah and Beth.
• The board is actually never referred to as a “Ouija” board in game and has a few design differences from a Ouija board. This is likely because Hasbro has a trademark on the term “Ouija.”
• During the séance, a ghost can be briefly seen in the background, behind Chris.
  • This ghost uses the same model as the Hannah prop which scares Ashley in the basement.
  • In a podcast, the director of the game, Will Byles, stated that the séance ghost was real and that it doesn't need to be explained.
    • It is uncertain who the séance ghost is meant to be. If it is Hannah, like the model suggests, it would be strange since Hannah is still alive as a Wendigo at this time.
