Don't Move is a gameplay mechanic present in Until Dawn and the 2024 remake where the player must keep the control stationary for a certain period of time. The successful/unsuccessful completion of segments results in alternative scenarios that can lead to variations in the course of the story or even the death of a character.

- Overall, the player can have 16 "Don't Move" segments in total.
- Out of all protagonists, Sam has the most "Don't Move" segments (with 9), followed by Emily, Matt, and Jessica (with 2), while Beth, Chris, and Mike have one "Don't Move" segment each.
- Ashley and Josh are the only protagonists without "Don't Move" segments.
- Chapter 3, Chapter 4, and Chapter 6 are the only chapters that don't feature “Don't Move” segments.
- Jessica, Matt, Mike and Sam are the only protagonists who can die from failed "Don't Move" segments.
- "Don't Move" is analogous to "Keep Calm" from The Dark Pictures Anthology and "Don't Breathe" from The Quarry.
- In the 2024 remake, the PC version allows an alternate working mode of the "Don't Move" segments for controls with no gyro support, where the player needs to bring a white bar to the center of the ellipse using the analog stick.
